My AP Bio Blog 1

I am having an awesome time in AP Bio! Even before the class started we were giving an assignment which gave us freedom to create and design our own special experiment testing any component out on pill bugs. My created task was to train a group of pill bugs to go to a specific side of paper automatically. I used the idea of the clicker training method used with dogs. The idea is to have the animal connect the treat given with a specific task. I wanted to do this experiment because I know that pill bugs contribute to our ecosystems and if we found that we could train them, maybe we could later on use the pill bugs along with other animals to better our ecosystem as a whole. My experiment did not show any progress of training by the end but I am not discouraged. My training process was short and is probably why the pill bugs were not trained. My experiment was going to reflect on a lot of the things we learned about in this first unit! It was surrounded on the ecosystem. We learned about abiotic and biotic factors, populations and calculations, trophic levels,  and other components of our environment that affects all the things around us and their behavior! This was an interesting unit because it made both look at the big picture and pay attention to the little things as well. We were also assigned an I-Search project which also gave us freedom to pick a topic and a subtopic  to ask a research question about. Our RQ needed to be a question that was unique and maybe never asked before. My Topic surrounds bone regeneration and healing and if there is a way to speed up the process. It is a fun experience because it puts us at the driver seats letting us chose our own decisions! Overall the quarter has been a great and it was full of hard work in all of my classes but it was all worth it!!
